Description

A delicious and hearty beef-based dish inspired by traditional German cuisine, featuring tender knuckle meat cooked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs beef knuckle
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 potatoes, diced
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, brown the beef knuckle on all sides over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and red wine, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Add the sliced carrots, diced potatoes, mustard, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  6. Cover the pot and transfer it to the oven, cooking for 2-3 hours until the meat is tender.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, marinate the beef knuckle overnight in the red wine.
  • Serve with crusty bread or dumplings for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
