- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 egg
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and chopped rosemary.
- Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a roll.
- Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Brush the warm rolls with melted butter before serving.
Notes
- For a stronger rosemary flavor, add more chopped rosemary to the dough.
- These rolls can be frozen after baking; just reheat them in the oven before serving.
- Serve warm for the best taste.
