Description

A delicious and creamy dish featuring layers of potatoes, green chiles, and cheese, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (4 oz) diced green chiles
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or a blend)
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the baking dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the dish.
  4. Sprinkle half of the diced green chiles and half of the cheese over the potatoes.
  5. In a bowl, mix the heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  6. Pour half of the cream mixture over the first layer.
  7. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, green chiles, cheese, and cream mixture.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, use hot green chiles.
  • This dish can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
