Description

A delicious and creamy dessert featuring layers of vanilla custard sandwiched between crispy lattice pastry.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of puff pastry
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of cornstarch
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into rectangles.
  3. Place half of the rectangles on a baking sheet and bake until golden brown.
  4. In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and whisk in egg yolks and vanilla extract.
  6. Let the custard cool slightly before spreading it over the baked pastry.
  7. Top with the remaining pastry rectangles.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use whole milk instead of low-fat milk.
  • Chill the custard for a firmer texture.
  • Can be served with fresh berries for added flavor.
