Description

Golden, crisp phyllo pastry envelops creamy feta, fresh herbs, and zesty lemon, drizzled with chili honey for a delightful appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz Feta Cheese
  • 2 tbsp Dill
  • 2 tbsp Mint
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Zest
  • 8 sheets Phyllo Pastry
  • 4 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 1 tbsp Chili Flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Crush the feta cheese in a mixing bowl, adding dill, mint, and lemon zest; mix gently.
  3. Lay one sheet of phyllo pastry on a clean work surface, brushing lightly with olive oil.
  4. Place a second sheet on top and repeat the brushing. For extra layers, use up to four sheets.
  5. Cut the layered phyllo into strips about 4 inches wide. Place 2 tablespoons of the feta mixture at one end of each strip.
  6. Fold the edges over the filling to create an envelope, then roll tightly from one end to the other.
  7. Seal the ends and place each roll seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet; brush with more olive oil.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the rolls are puffed and golden brown.
  9. Combine honey and chili flakes in a saucepan over low heat until warmed through.
  10. Drizzle the chili honey over the warm feta rolls before serving.

Notes

Keep phyllo covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out. Great served with tzatziki or hummus.
