Ingredients
Scale
- 1 Tomahawk Steak (2–3 inches thick)
- Salt (to taste)
- Black Pepper (to taste)
- Olive Oil (for searing)
- Fresh Herbs (such as rosemary or thyme, optional)
Instructions
- Remove the tomahawk steak from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 1 hour.
- Preheat your grill or oven to high heat (around 450°F to 500°F).
- Season the steak generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over high heat.
- Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes on each side until a crust forms.
- If using fresh herbs, add them to the skillet during the last minute of searing.
- Transfer the skillet to the oven and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
- Remove the steak from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
- Slice against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness: 130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium.
- Letting the steak rest is crucial for retaining juices.
- Pair with a red wine for a perfect meal.
