Description

A refreshing summer beverage balancing sweet strawberries and tangy lemons, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 to 1 cup white granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Zest from 2 lemons
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 lbs fresh strawberries
  • 1 1/2 cups lemon juice
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 cup strawberries (sliced)
  • 2 large lemons (sliced)

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup of water and 1/2 to 1 cup of granulated sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Add the zest from 2 lemons to the syrup and let it simmer gently.
  3. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  4. Juice 1 1/2 cups of lemons while the syrup cools.
  5. Wash and hull 1 1/2 pounds of strawberries, then puree them in a blender until smooth.
  6. Combine the cooled lemon syrup, lemon juice, and 6 cups of water in a large pitcher. Stir well.
  7. Add the pureed strawberries and mix until incorporated.
  8. Add 2 cups of ice cubes and garnish with sliced strawberries and lemons.

Notes

For a fizzy twist, consider adding soda water instead of plain water before serving to create a sparkling strawberry lemonade.
