Description

Delicious blackberry turnovers with a flaky pastry and sweet-tart filling, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of puff pastry sheets
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine blackberries, sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch in a bowl gently.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into 4-inch squares.
  4. Place a spoonful of the blackberry mixture in the center of each square.
  5. Fold the pastry over to form triangles and press the edges to seal.
  6. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

To make ahead, freeze turnovers before baking and bake straight from the freezer for a few extra minutes.
