Description

These Chocolate Sugar Cookie Bars offer a delightful balance between a crispy exterior and a chewy interior, topped with a sweet frosting and melty chocolate chips.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth and light.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly dispersed.
  6. Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
  9. Combine powdered sugar and milk for the frosting, then spread over the bars.
  10. Cut into squares and serve.
