Description
Indulge in these rich and festive Christmas Truffles, a perfect balance of chocolatey goodness and delightful coatings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (for dusting)
- 1/4 cup crushed peppermint candies (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the Heavy Cream: In a saucepan, over medium heat, bring the heavy cream to a gentle simmer. Watch closely to prevent boiling.
- Melt the Chocolate: Remove the pan from heat, and immediately add the chopped dark chocolate. Stir gently until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture is smooth.
- Mix in Vanilla and Sugar: Stir in the vanilla extract and powdered sugar, ensuring every bit of sweetness is well incorporated.
- Chill: Transfer the mixture to a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for about 120 minutes, or until firm enough to scoop.
- Scoop and Shape: Once set, use a melon baller or your hands to scoop out small portions of the truffle mixture. Roll them gently between your palms to form bite-sized balls.
- Coat: In a shallow dish, place the cocoa powder and rolled truffles gently until fully coated. If using peppermint candies, coat some truffles with these for a festive twist!
- Chill Again: Arrange the truffles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate until ready to serve.
