Description

Indulge in these rich and festive Christmas Truffles, a perfect balance of chocolatey goodness and delightful coatings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder (for dusting)
  • 1/4 cup crushed peppermint candies (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Heavy Cream: In a saucepan, over medium heat, bring the heavy cream to a gentle simmer. Watch closely to prevent boiling.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: Remove the pan from heat, and immediately add the chopped dark chocolate. Stir gently until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Mix in Vanilla and Sugar: Stir in the vanilla extract and powdered sugar, ensuring every bit of sweetness is well incorporated.
  4. Chill: Transfer the mixture to a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for about 120 minutes, or until firm enough to scoop.
  5. Scoop and Shape: Once set, use a melon baller or your hands to scoop out small portions of the truffle mixture. Roll them gently between your palms to form bite-sized balls.
  6. Coat: In a shallow dish, place the cocoa powder and rolled truffles gently until fully coated. If using peppermint candies, coat some truffles with these for a festive twist!
  7. Chill Again: Arrange the truffles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Prepare these truffles a day or two in advance. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
