- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
- ½ cup honey
- 1–2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Marinate chicken breasts: Soak the chicken in buttermilk for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Prepare the flour mixture: Whisk together flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
- Heat the oil: Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep pan or fryer.
- Dredge the chicken: Remove chicken from buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture, shaking off excess coating.
- Fry the chicken: Cook chicken pieces in the hot oil for 6-8 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Prepare the hot honey: Warm honey with red pepper flakes in a small saucepan until integrated.
- Serve it up: Drizzle hot honey over crispy chicken before serving.
Notes
For a less sweet version, consider using maple syrup or agave nectar for the hot honey.
