Description

A comforting dish of tender beef and caramelized onions, topped with gooey provolone cheese and served on toasted buns.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for toasting buns

Instructions

  1. Caramelize the onions: Heat a large skillet over medium heat, add oil or butter and sliced onions. Cook for 10-15 minutes until deep golden brown.
  2. Brown the beef: Push onions aside and add ground beef, breaking it apart until browned, about 6-8 minutes.
  3. Add flavor: Pour in beef broth and sprinkle onion soup mix. Stir and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Season: Taste and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Toast the buns: In a small pan, toast the hamburger buns with butter until golden brown.
  6. Assemble: Spoon beef mixture onto bottom half of buns, top with shredded provolone.
