Description

Delightful blondies infused with caramelized apples and topped with creamy maple frosting, perfect for cozy fall gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped apples (peeled and cored)
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese (for frosting)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan. Consider lining it with parchment paper for easy removal and clean-up.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a medium bowl until fully combined.
  3. Mix the melted butter with both brown sugar and granulated sugar in a large bowl until it forms a cohesive mixture.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, blending them until smooth and fluffy.
  5. Incorporate the dry ingredients gradually, stirring gently to combine, creating a thick, creamy batter.
  6. Fold in the chopped apples and maple syrup evenly throughout the batter.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly for consistent baking.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the blondies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  10. Combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, and maple syrup in a bowl for the frosting. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  11. Spread the frosting over the cooled blondies and cut them into squares or bars for serving.

Notes

For a nuttier flavor, swap all-purpose flour for whole wheat. These blondies store well, making them great for later treats.
