- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 4 cups frozen tater tots
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Sauté the beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned; about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Add the diced onion and sliced mushrooms; sauté for another 5 to 7 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and heavy cream and let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Mix in 1/2 cup of the shredded Swiss cheese, thyme, and paprika.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Top with frozen tater tots, then sprinkle the remaining Swiss cheese over them.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until tater tots are golden-brown.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
Make-ahead tips: Prepare the beef and mushroom mixture a day in advance. Can substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
