- 1 ball of pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce or crushed San Marzano tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked spicy Italian sausage (crumbled)
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Hot honey, for drizzling
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C) with a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.
- Prepare your dough on a floured surface, rolling it out to your desired thickness.
- Transfer the rolled-out dough to a parchment-lined pizza peel or baking sheet.
- Layer the pizza sauce evenly over the dough base, followed by sprinkling the mozzarella cheese, and adding the crumbled sausage on top.
- Creamy finishing touch: spoon dollops of ricotta, scatter red pepper flakes, and drizzle with olive oil.
- Bake the pizza for 10–12 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- Drizzle with hot honey, garnish with basil, slice, and serve.
Notes
Make the dough up to 2 days in advance and store in the fridge. Rotate the pizza halfway through baking for even cooking.
