Description

Delight in the vibrant flavors of Thai Basil Beef Rolls, featuring savory ground beef, fresh basil, and crisp vegetables wrapped in delicate rice paper.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 rice paper wrappers
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (for dipping)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (for dipping)
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until it is beautifully browned. Drain any excess fat so that the filling stays light.
  2. Add the flavor: Stir in minced garlic, soy sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until fragrant and well combined.
  3. Soften the rice paper: Lay a rice paper wrapper flat on a clean surface. Immerse it in warm water for about 10-15 seconds until it has softened.
  4. Fill the wrapper: Place a small amount of the savory beef mixture at the bottom of the wrapper. Add several fragrant basil leaves, along with a few pieces of cucumber and carrot.
  5. Roll it up: Fold the sides over the filling, then roll tightly from the bottom up to enclose everything lovingly.
  6. Repeat: Continue assembling your rolls, one by one, until you’ve used up your ingredients.
  7. Make the dipping sauce: In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, lime juice, and chili paste. Adjust the flavors as needed.
  8. Serve and enjoy: Arrange the beautiful rolls on a platter and offer the dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

For make-ahead, prepare the beef mixture in advance. Soak the rice paper just before serving for optimal freshness.
